NAIROBI, Kenya, March 31-Nairobi City County has officially joined as a strategic partner for the Nairobi City Marathon, a move expected to boost race organization, security, and delivery ahead of the 2026 athletics season. The County’s support includes waiving venue fees, streamlining permits, and deploying emergency services.

County Steps Up for Marathon Excellence

Sports Director Linet Boyani leads a dedicated team, including Agnes Masalange, Catherine Githinji, and the Inspectorate unit, to provide hands-on support for the marathon. The County’s involvement is aimed at ensuring a smooth and professional event for both athletes and spectators.

Barnaba Korir, CEO of the Nairobi City Marathon and Chairman of Athletics Kenya’s Nairobi Region, welcomed the partnership. “This is about delivering a first-class experience for athletes and spectators alike. The County’s support elevates Nairobi’s profile as a global athletics hub.”

Collaboration with Athletics Kenya and Golazo

The marathon is also being organized in partnership with Athletics Kenya and international race organizers Golazo. The collaboration ensures that the event is professionally managed, attracts elite competitors, and aligns with global marathon standards.
